Literature
We are passionate about literature and we love to teach it.
Edmonds College English faculty values the opportunity to explore our appreciation
for various works of literature in the classroom with you. Our instructors will bring
diverse approaches to literature classes and use a creative variety of assignments
and assessment methods. In all of our literature courses, our teachers will strive
to help you develop meaningful questions about the texts you are reading and to deepen
your understanding of literature.
Our literature courses give you practice in the skills required for other classes, particularly writing and critical thinking. Also, our literature courses count toward distribution or elective credits for the AA degree, and some of our literature courses fulfill the Cultural Diversity (CD) requirement for the AA degree.
- ENGL& 111: Introduction to Literature is designed to engage you with a wide range of texts and authors. At the same time, you are introduced to reading and analysis approaches for literature.
- ENGL 125: Reading Today’s Authors (CD) explores works written in the past 30 years, engaging current issues and concerns.
- ENGL 170: Popular Genres (CD) covers popular works from the past and present, including science fiction, mystery,
horror, graphic novels, and even game adaptations.
