Entrepreneurship and Microbusiness Development

CommunityEnterprise offers accessible and affordable "first step" entrepreneurship training, consulting and other support, empowering people in low-wealth and underserved communities to start and grow profitable small businesses sustainably connected to a local, living economy.

Edmonds College has partnered with Center for Inclusive Entrepreneurship to bring CommunityEnterprise to the college campus.

First Step Program

Have an idea for a micro/small business?

First Step provides students with a quick, reality-based process for determining whether your business idea is realistic and achievable.

Students who complete the course may be eligible to receive one-on-one technical assistance toward achieving their goals.

To participate, fill out the CIE's  online application form.  An instructor will contact you to let you know if you are eligible for the discount with more information.

Programs and Services

Business Advising – One-on-one business consulting. Assistance includes writing a business plan, loan packaging, finding customers and managing business operations.

Ice House On-Ramp - Immersed in the entrepreneurial mindset, participants awaken their "inner entrepreneur" to explore self-employment and business ownership as a meaningful path to livelihoods and community wealth building.

First Step – A "reality check" designed to help participants assess readiness and the feasibility of a business idea and get to a quick "go or no go" decision.

Drill Downs - Stand alone workshops that focus on the fundamentals of business management, marketing, finance and industry specific topics.

Simple Startup - Develop a business model using a "lean startup" approach.

Mentorship - Using MicroMentor.org, clients connect to mentors for general business support and subject matter expertise.
