New Student Checklist

Edmonds College New Student Veteran Checklist

  • Apply for VA education benefits
    • Select the green icon below the “Ready to Apply” section
    • Select “Updating my current education benefits” if you have used VA education benefits previously
    • Print out or screen shot/picture of the application confirmation page
      • Online: vets.gov/education/apply
  • Apply for admission and view the new student online orientation
  • Apply for financial aid
  • Determine your placement by contacting the Edmonds College Testing Center
  • Academic Advising
  • Provide ALL prior college and/or military transcripts to Edmonds College
  • Attend an Edmonds College Veterans Orientation
    • Contact the Veterans Resource Center (VRC) at 425.640.1175 or vrc@edcc.edu to schedule. Orientations are held each quarter and are mandatory. Please bring the following documents with you to orientation:
      • Certificate of Eligibility (CoE)
      • Program requirement sheet
      • Assessment/placement test scores
      • DD-214 (member 4 Copy)
      • NOBE (if applicable)
  • For Chapter 35 – Dependents/Spouse, in addition to the paperwork listed above, please bring the following documents:
    • 100% VA disability letter
    • Marriage certificate
    • Birth certificate of dependent
    • Service member’s death certificate (if applicable)
  • Meet with the VA Certifying Official
    • After you attend orientation, you can review your paperwork with the VA Certifying Official and ask questions about your education benefits
    • You may also request an appointment with the Certifying Official
