Campus Veterans Benefits

Eligible Veterans and National Guard members may receive a 25% reduction in tuition while attending Edmonds CC. A copy of the eligible veteran's DD-214 (member 4) is required to verify benefit status. Documents can be submitted to the Veterans Resource Center in Lynnwood 215. For questions about residency or domiciliary status, please contact Edmonds CC Entry Services.

Eligible Veterans or National Guard members are defined as:

  1. A Washington domiciliary
  2. Active or reserve member of military or naval forces, or a National Guard member called to active duty
  3. Served in active federal duty under either Title 10 or Title 32 of the U.S. Code
  4. Served in a war or conflict fought on foreign soil or in international waters, or served in support of those that were (serving on foreign soil or in international waters)
  5. If discharged, has received an honorable discharge

Other Eligible Veterans or National Guard Members:

  1. A Washington domiciliary
  2. Did not serve on foreign soil or international waters or in support of those that did

WAC 250.18.030 -  Establishment of a domicile

Edmonds CC is required to waive all tuition and fees for a child, spouse, or domestic partner of an eligible Veteran or National Guard member who:

  1. Became totally disabled as a result of active federal military or naval service;
  2. Is determined by the federal government to be a prisoner of war (POW) or missing in action (MIA); or
  3. Lost his or her life as a result of active federal military or naval service

To apply for a waiver of tuition and fees as a dependent of an eligible Veteran, please submit the following documents to the Veterans Resource Center:

  1. 100% VA disability letter
  2. Marriage certificate
  3. Birth certificate of dependent
  4. Service member’s death certificate (if applicable)

Priority Class Registration

Student veterans may register for classes on the first day registration becomes available for students. For more information on registration dates, check out the Edmonds CC Academic Calendar or look up your registration date online. Veterans must submit a copy of their DD-214 (member 4) to receive priority registration. Active duty personnel must present a valid ID card.

Resident Tuition

Veterans and dependents may be eligible for resident tuition rates, depending on individual circumstances. In accordance with RCW 28B.15.012, Edmonds CC offers resident tuition status for eligible students. Veterans

  1. Students who have separated from the military with honorable active duty service of at least 90 days;
  2. Are eligible for VA education benefits;
  3. And, enroll at a college in Washington state within three (3) years of separation from the military

Spouses and Children of Veterans

  1. Current/former spouses and children of Veterans who have separated from the military with honorable active duty service of at least 90 days;
  2. Are eligible for VA education benefits
  3. And, enroll at a college in Washington state within three (3) years of the date the Veteran separated from the military
  • Current/former spouses and children of a deceased member of the military who died in the line of duty are also eligible for resident tuition rates

Washington National Guard

  1. Current Washington National Guard members
  2. Current Washington National Guard members who entered service as a Washington Resident, have maintained their Washington domicile status, but are not stationed in the state

  3. (i) A student who is the spouse or a dependent of a person who is on active military duty or a member of the national guard who entered service as a Washington resident and who has maintained Washington as his or her domicile but is not stationed in the state. If the person on active military duty is reassigned out-of-state, the student maintains the status as a resident student so long as the student is continuously enrolled in a degree program;

Spouses and Children of Washington National Guard members

  1. Spouses and dependents of Washington National Guard members
  2. Students must reside in the state of Washington
Delayed Tuition Payment

Students utilizing VA education benefits may receive delayed payment of their tuition, until their VA education benefits are certified for the academic quarter in which they are taking classes. This benefit allows students to register for classes early and avoid being dropped for non-payment of tuition. For new students, a DD-214 (member 4) copy and a VA Certificate of Eligibility (CoE) or screen shot of your VA benefits application is required to place the tuition delay.

Gap Funding

Student veterans may receive funds for breaks or "gaps" in between quarters when education benefits are not paid. Application forms with eligibility requirements and rules are located on the VRC forms page.

Emergency Funds

Edmonds CC students can receive emergency funding for short term financial issues within the last 60 days. Contact the SSD or TRiO offices for assistance or questions about applying.
