BE in PURSUIT so you can SUCCEED in COLLEGE and the WORKPLACE

Do you have a documented disability and see college in your future? In the post-secondary chapter that is filled with many unknowns, the Pursuit Lab is on a mission to bring college access and workplace readiness, and we want you to join us! We are a pre-employment transition service for students transitioning out of high school or looking for jobs/careers.

In partnership with Washington’s Department of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR), Pursuit’s Workplace Readiness course seeks to help students to discover strengths, to prepare for jobs and reach educational goals.

Program requirements:

  • Must be 16 or older and motivated to pursue more education, a job, and/or discovering their dependable strengths.
  • Must be able to communicate in verbal/written English and can function independently without constant support on campus (unless it is ASL interpreter).
  • Have (had) a documented disability could qualify for this support class (IEP, 504, or documented through SSD here on campus)!
  • Must be capable of independent transportation and are committed to attending class meeting times, Monday through Thursday, for one to two hours.
  • Willing to be a part of a fun a nd supportive community of peers building independence through job and college exploration and progress.

There are available scholarships to almost all who are qualified to take this class. 

The Pursuit program runs fall, winter, and spring classes in 2019-20:

Fall Quarter: Sept. 23-Dec. 13, 2019. Mon.-Thurs., 2:50-3:50 p.m. (5 credits)

Registration for fall quarter begins Sept. 9 for new students.

Winter Quarter: Jan. 6-March 19, 2020. Mon.-Thurs., 2:50-3:50 p.m. (5 credits) 

Registration for winter quarter begins Nov. 20 for new students.

Spring Quarter: April 6-June 19, 2020. Mon.-Thurs., 2:50-3:50 p.m. (5 credits)

Registration for spring quarter begins March 2 for new students.

We create a structure of support, including individual and group work, peer mentoring, and specialized instruction.

CHECKLIST FOR REGISTERING

Please attend an orientation if you are a new student. These forms will be available at the orientation. However, It is available here also because the Underage (under 18) and Pre-employment Transition service forms (section 2’s) will need to be filled out and signed by a High School/Transition Program contact. 

Hard copies of the forms are also available for pick up in Mukilteo Hall Room 403 Pre-college office. 

We will help you determine the correct paperwork and funding source. Please feel free to reach out to pursuit@edcc.edu with any questions about this.  ** NOTE THAT YOUR AGE SHOULD BE DETERMINED BY THE DATE YOU WILL BE ON THE FIRST DAY OF CLASSES OF THE QUARTER THAT YOU CHOOSE TO TAKE THE COURSE.  - Check dates of quarters above or on Academic calendar.

**Please turned in all forms to designated places as mentioned above before the 1st day of class for each quarter (check dates on the academic calendar) unless you have checked with Diana George (425.640.1684) that there is space available for enrollment during the first 10 days of class.

  1. Underage Pursuit application form (we will need you to turn in the original form) - If you are 16 or 17 on the first day of class you will need to fill out this form and have Section 2 filled out by a school official to allow for dual enrollment. Please note this form is different than the regular Underage application form. Please return the Underage Pursuit application form to the Pursuit mailbox (Mukilteo Hall 403 turn into office staff) along with Pre-employment Transition form (below).
  2. College application form (After filling out, Print out this “In person” version and fill out and bring to an appointment or orientation). For those attending Orientation, they will get a chance to fill out and print out during the second half of the orientation.
  3. Pre-employment transition form: (we need the original form turned in) You will fill out and have a counselor or Special Education Teacher fill out section 2 of this form to verify your documentation of disability. Please turn in the Pre-employment Transition form to the Pursuit Mailbox in Mukilteo 403 office. If you have questions please ask Diana George and reach by pursuit@edcc.edu
  4. FERPA form: Please fill out this form print out and bring to Orientation or to a scheduled appointment. If you cannot then there will be copies at orientation or during an appointment. There will be a copy made and the original will be turned into Enrollment services Lynnwood 1st floor with a State ID to verify identity.
  5. You’ll need to come in person to:
    1. Fill out and SIGN a Registration Form (it requires an ITEM number provided during registration or by appointment only) - Turn into Diana George at an orientation or into enrollment services with your “in person” College application form
    2. Fill out and SIGN and TURN IN with STATE ID your FERPA release form to allow parents/guardians ANY access to your student ID/schedule/class information
    3. To get an EDPASS go to Lynnwood 214: You will need a State approved ID, Student ID number assigned from college and a CLASS SCHEDULE
