The Music Department provides students a wide range of opportunities to learn music and grow as a performer. Our instructors bring diverse skills and approaches to teaching.
Their shared teaching goals include:
- Giving students a solid foundation all facets of music.
- Providing a range of performance and creative opportunities.
- Offering diverse music theory and digital music courses.
- Creating a dynamic, rich learning environment for students to pursue their passion for music and performing.
Student ensembles at Edmonds Community College have numerous performance opportunities throughout the academic year.
Take survey courses such as Jazz History, MUSC& 107 or Music Appreciation, MUSC&105 online, when it is convenient, to deepen your relationship to music. Music education begins with listening.
Associate of Arts in Music
Students can earn a new Associate of Arts-Music Degree. This degree and the Associate of Arts-Digial Music transfer to four year colleges and universities.
The college has a Concert Band for woodwinds, brass, and percussionists. Participating in Concert Band fulfills the large ensemble requirement for the new Associate of Arts-Music Degree and is open to members of the community. Those who wish to register and play with this group of musicians contact Bill Goldwyn, director.
To join the band, email firstname.lastname@example.org. Band members will also register for Concert Band, MUSC 189 at the college.
David Marriott, a highly respected director and trombonist, directs the Jazz Band. He plans to take the band to new heights of performance, and will be teaching individual trombone lessons.
