Edmonds College Foundation Board of Directors have approved additional funding for the Emergency Assistance Program to aid students affected by COVID-19. This assistance is available for students enrolled in Fall Quarter who are experiencing an unforeseen financial situation that has occurred due to COVID-19.
The Program is intended to assist students who are serious about continuing their studies toward a degree or certificate at Edmonds College. Applications are reviewed on a case by case basis and awarded accordingly within the annual limits of available Foundation funding. Academic performance and program progression will be considered as part of the review process.
What can emergency funds pay for?
● Most importantly, Basic Life Necessities that are current or past due, such as
o Food, shelter, utility bills, car repairs
● Under limited circumstances cell phone and internet services
o Emergency funds can be used to pay for basic telephone service and internet connection. The funds cannot be used to pay for the full charges of a bundled service or special telephone applications or call/text charges in excess of the service contract.
Edmonds College Foundation Emergency Assistance will only be awarded to a student ONCE in a 12 month period.
The maximum award available is $500.
Applications are reviewed weekly, by a committee comprised of College and Foundation staff. Exceptions may be made for students requiring immediate assistance for food or shelter. The student’s personal statement, academic progress, and supporting documentation will be used to determine the applicant’s level of emergency and amount of award.
If approved, award checks will be made payable to and sent directly to the service provider. Students will be contacted by phone after their application has been reviewed to inform them of approval or denial of their application. They will be notified again when checks have been mailed to the provider.
