Safe Zone Program
What Is a “Safe Zone”?
Our goal is to provide safe spaces on campus that are highly visible and easily identifiable to gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender persons, where support and understanding is the key and bigotry and discrimination are not tolerated.
A Safe Zone is a place to talk about your identity, a place where lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender people can feel safe and free to be open about themselves without fear of criticism or hatred. It is a place to feel both supported and affirmed, to feel accepted and valued.
How Can I Participate in the Safe Zone Program?
Are you interested in supporting the GBLT community on campus?
- Do you want to learn how to be an ally?
- Are you interested in starting a GLBT club on campus?
If yes to either of these questions, please contact the Equity and Inclusion Division at 425.640.1538. We want to help you become an ally. Come visit and we can provide information to help you understand the challenges that many lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered people experience.
All-Gender Restroom on campus
Edmonds Community College provides an all-gender restroom on campus. It is located in the west-side Brier building on the first floor near the elevator.
