The Edmonds College Art Gallery’s winter exhibition, “Cut One’s Teeth,” is an homage to Kodi Sershon’s journey as an artist and graphic designer from a student to a successful professional. The exhibition will be displayed at Lynnwood Hall until March 15.

Sershon showcases a range of personal projects, freelance commissions, and full-time assignments from his archives. Each project on display offers a glimpse of the creative process and behind-the-scenes events that went into making the final product. The array of work showcases the variety of skills professional and commercial artists use when working on new projects.

Sershon, an Edmonds alumnus, graduated with an Associate of Technical Arts in Visual Communications. He stepped into the creative arts field on a mission with a portfolio of student work and self-directed projects. Since then, he has advanced in the fields of layout, packaging, product, and apparel design and worked with brands like Zumiez, Ruby’s Barbershop, and The Pokémon Company International.

Sershon wrote that he “makes trash, but very attractive trash, with concern for sustainability” for renowned companies. On the side, he creates art for himself and his friends. He displays his work at art fairs and comic conventions around Seattle, selling prints, comics, and tchotchkes.

“Cut One’s Teeth” is on display through March 15 on the third floor of Lynnwood Hall at 20000 68th Ave. W, Lynnwood, Wash. The gallery is open 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m.-2 p.m. on Friday. A reception celebrating the exhibition will be held at the gallery 2:30-4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23.
