Edmonds Community College’s ArtsNow program of non-credit classes for artists features a class on food styling and a free exhibit of commercial food photography in March.

Veteran food stylist Lisa Golden Schroeder, the publisher of www.foodesigns.com and the e-zine, The Tweezer Times, is the chair of the Food Photographers & Stylists section of the International Association of Culinary Professionals. Schroeder teaches an Introduction to the Art of Food Styling for Commercial Photography, noon-4 p.m., March 9-10. The class covers how to make food look appetizing for advertising, cookbooks, magazines and television, how to break in to the food styling business and tips and tricks for controlling food and composing shots. Cost: $119.

Throughout March, ArtsNow features a free exhibit of The Art of Food Photography: Fifty Years of Fabulous Food from the International Association of Culinary Professionals. What’s mouth-watering becomes eye-catching in this retrospective showing of commercial food photography and styling, with a close look at cake. The exhibit is open weekdays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Edmonds Conference Center, 410 Fourth Ave. W. Make this a stop during the Edmonds Art Walk, 5-8 p.m., March 16. Free.
