Mission:

The Distance Learning Faculty Mentors research and identify appropriate technologies for use in our learning environments. We provide a practical framework for the use of instructional technologies in teaching and learning and encourage the discussion of pedagogy and instructional practice.

Goals:

  • Evaluate and compare learning management systems
  • Work with the Accreditation self-study
  • Define standards for the development of Learning Objects or shared content
  • Develop a flexible degree option with specific online courses guaranteed in the annual schedule

The Mentors responsibilities include:

  • Serve as a resource to faculty designing distance-delivered courses, particularly online courses.
  • In concert with the TRC consult on the development of curriculum for distance learning.
  • Share ideas about distance learning curriculum development with faculty across disciplines.
  • Support and work closely with the Distance Learning Office staff.
  • Participate in distance learning workshops, forums, and/or presentations.
  • Assist in the development of distance learning resources and training materials for faculty (gathering materials that EdCC faculty have already created, researching what resources are available at other institutions, etc.).
  • Collect data on distance learning trends.
  • Help in the collection of best-practice resources for faculty to use.
