Determine What Classes You Need
The Accuplacer/Loep placement tests are administered by Edmonds Community College in order to determine the English/Math course level students are prepared to take. The test results are not classified as pass or fail and instead offer advisers insight into which remedial courses are needed. The purpose of the placement test is to determine how much you know and how well you know it. There is no "passing" or "failing" with a placement test; there is only "placing".
The Testing Center administers Loep placement tests for non-native English speakers, i.e. international students or residents/citizens, whose first language is not English.
Placement testing in English only, or English and Math, is a prerequisite to entering the college. Before testing, students must fill out a college application and pay an entry fee which covers the placement test.
International students will handle the entry process through International Student Services. ISS will give students a referral form to bring to the Testing Center.
All other non-native English speakers must apply at Enrollment Services. When completing the application process, students will receive a referral form to bring to the Testing Center.
Placement testing is done on a drop in basis during regular business hours.
New Students should go to Enrollment Services to complete the admissions form and pay the $30 initial fee. After receiving a referral form students proceed to the Testing Center to take the Accuplacer test.
Challenging your college placement results: Students can retake the test (one time per quarter) to improve their class placement. The retest fee is $21.
Challenging CHEM 141 placement: The test fee is $5. You will need a calculator for this exam. You may have up to two hours to complete the exam.
