Climate Commitment
In June 2008, President Jack Oharah signed the American College & University Presidents Climate Commitment , committing the college to becoming a climate-neutral institution.
The commitment has 3 major goals:
- Initiate development of comprehensive plan to achieve climate netrality as soon as possible
- Initiate two or more of the following tangible actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while comprehensive plan is being developed.
- Make action plan, inventory, and periodic progress reports publicly available by providing them to the Association of the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) for posting and dissemination.
To see an update of where we are in terms of our goals, see Climate Commitment Update. After our baseline carbon footprint is finalized, we will work on developing our Climate Action Plan. This is set to occur during the 2009-2010 academic year.
