2008 Commencement Ceremony

Commencement is a ceremony held annually in June for students having completed
requirements for a degree or certificate and is coordinated by Student Programs.

Commencement provides an opportunity for the people who have been involved with
your education to celebrate your success at Edmonds Community College.
Final Steps to Graduation
Any student who will have completed requirements for a degree, certificate or diploma by the end of summer or fall quarter 2007 or by winter, spring or summer quarter 2008, may participate in the commencement ceremony. Make sure your graduation is official. Follow these steps:
Apply for graduation through Enrollment Services. Complete the graduation form.
Pay the $28.80 graduation fee at the Cashier’s Office and submit your application by appropriate deadlines to Enrollment Services. Deadlines by quarter:
Summer 2007 July 5
Fall 2007 Oct. 5
Winter 2008 Jan. 18
Spring or Summer 2008 April 18
Summer 2008 graduates who plan to attend the ceremony: write “Commencement” at the top of your application.
A copy of your approved application, including a list of classes in which you are already enrolled, will be mailed to the address on file with Enrollment Services.
Unless you hear otherwise, the application process is now complete.

Students, faculty and staff wearing caps and gowns will walk into the Edmonds Stadium. The program, which lasts about two hours, consists of a student address, the presentation of degrees and certificates, and a recessional. Special accommodations

Professional photos of each graduate will be taken as the student crosses the stage. Proofs will be available online. It’s your decision whether you purchase your photograph.
What You Need to Do Purchase your cap, gown and tassel
We want you to participate in commencement! You’ll need to wear the college’s cap and gown for the ceremony. Purchase your cap, gown and tassel starting April 21 from the college bookstore for $30. A limited number of free announcements are also available at the Office of Student Life.
Students who have completed the graduation application by deadline are eligible to receive a limited number of guest tickets. You can pick up your tickets starting
June 2 at the Office of Student Life, Triton Union 108. Graduating with Honors
Academic honors
If you have earned a grade point average of 3.8 in college-level courses (numbered 100 or above) through winter quarter 2008 at Edmonds Community College, which apply to your degree or certificate, you may graduate with honors. Pick up your honor cord at the Office of Student Life, Triton Union 108, June 16-19. Phi Theta Kappa
Students who have the required number of associate degree credits and a 3.5 cumulative college-level g.p.a. may join Phi Theta Kappa, the national honor society. Membership costs $62. Current members may purchase special commencement regalia from the Phi Theta Kappa Web site. Contact the adviser for membership information via email, kthielke@edcc.edu, or call

About the Commencement Ceremony

certificates and a recessional.
About the Commencement Facility
The Edmonds Stadium holds approximately 2300 guest. Guest seating is located in the bleachers. The bleachers do not have back support. Guests will be under cover.
Photos
Professional photos of each graduate will be taken as the student crosses the
stage. Proofs will be mailed to each student about a month after Commencement.
Graduates may purchase these photographs if they wish.
Recognition of Exceptional Academics Graduating with Honors
Graduates who have earned a grade point average of 3.8 in college-level courses
(numbered 100 or above) through winter quarter 2008 at Edmonds Community College
will receive an honor cord. The college purchases an honor cord for students
to wear. Enrollment Services will provide to Student Programs a list of all
students earning the required grade point average. Honor cards will be available for pickup in Triton Union Building 108.
Phi Theta Kappa - Academic Honor Society at Edmonds Community College
Students who have Associate degree credits and a 3.5 cumulative college-level
GPA may join Phi Theta Kappa, the national honors society. Membership costs
$62.00, payable to Edmonds Community College at the Cashiers Office. Applications
for membership are available in Student Programs, TUB 108. Contact the advisor,
