How to Appeal Your Suspension from Running Start

If you are suspended from the Edmonds Community College Running Start Program, you may choose to appeal the suspension by completing the following form:

NOTE:  Sections A and B of the Suspension Appeal Form are to be completed by the student. 

Section C of the form is to be completed by the high school counselor.

IT IS THE JOB OF THE STUDENT TO CONTACT THEIR HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELOR AND RETRIEVE SECTION C.

Steps to Appeal

  1. Student must write a explanation of what barriers prevented them from being able to achieve Satisfactory Academic Progress (Section A of Suspension Appeal Form) and what concrete solutions they will utilize to ensure success in the future (Section B of Suspension Appeal Form).
  2. Student must meet with their high school counselor to go over their written explanation as well as receive a written recommendation from your high school counselor for your appeal (Section C of Suspension Appeal Form).
  3. Student must submit the above documents to the Edmonds Community College Running Start office before 4 p.m. on the first day of the quarter they are on suspension for.

Notification of Decision

The student will be notified of the college‚Äôs decision through their EdMail account usually within a week from the day the appeal was submitted. The student's high school counselor will be notified by email.

Suspension-Reinstatement

You must earn a minimum 2.0 GPA and complete all credits enrolled in after the 10th day of the "Suspension-Reinstatement" quarter.  If you maintain satisfactory academic progress during the "Suspension-Reinstatement" quarter, then you can continue in the Running Start program under "Probation Status." Only one appeal is allowed during the time a student is enrolled in the Running Start program.

The Running Start program at Edmonds Community College strives to support the academic success of ALL program participants.

 

There is NO POSSIBILITY of appeal and continuance in the Edmonds Community College Running Start Program if you fail to meet the Satisfactory Academic Progress standards during the "Suspension-Reinstatement" quarter.

IMPORTANT APPEAL DEADLINE!

A suspended student who has already registered for classes will have until the first day of the suspension quarter to submit a completed appeal or he/she will be withdrawn from classes.
