Relationships in Science Education (RISE)

Who Is Eligible for RISE?

You are eligible if you are earning a two-year Associate degree and/or intending to transfer to a four-year institution in one of the following STEM-related fields of study: biology, chemistry, computer science, computer information systems, computer electronics and networks, engineering, environmental science, geology, materials science technology, mathematics,or physics. Part-time students and Running Start students are eligible to join!

RISE students must also:

  • be a United States citizen or permanent resident,
  • demonstrate previous academic achievement with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, and
  • participate in RISE activities during the award term.

What about International Students/Non-Residents?

If you are an International Student, Non-Resident, or do not have legal status in the United States you can still join the RiSE Student Club. Club-members enjoy many of the same benefits as those accepted into the NSF funded program, including faculty mentoring, events, and support from the STEM Student Retention Specialist.
