- Avoid exaggerations, clichés, and rash statements
- Use ellipses, bullets and dashes
- Tighten copy - use short sentences
- Read your copy out loud. This works wonders!
- Be conversational, use pronouns colloquialisms and contractions.
- Use simple words and active verbs.
- Use the power of three words: snap, crackle and pop
- Use contrasting pair: expect more, pay less
- Enhance copy with: testimonials, endorsements, causes, environment, brand names, and location.
- Avoid using the weakest words in the English language: wish, hope, try, but, unfortunately, sorry, have to, need to, must
- Remember the elements of a great ad: creates awareness and desire, generates interest, and promotes action
