Application Process

Acceptance into the BAS in Child, Youth, and Family Studies program is by BAS-CYFS application only. Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. Each cohort has a maximum of 30 students and starts once a year in the Fall Quarter.

The application and recommendation forms are PDF fillable forms. For best results, please use updated web browsers with a PDF plug-in, such as Google Chrome or Internet Explorer; these will allow users to fill in boxes directly in the web browser after opening a new window.

Forms can also be filled out and saved using the Free Adobe Acrobat Reader DC software. Forms will be password protected for editing, however, passwords are not needed to fill in the boxes.

Financial Aid is available for this program for those who qualify. Please complete the FAFSA application at least 3 weeks prior to the financial aid deadline.

*Those who qualify and plan to use the WA State and Edmonds CC Employee Tuition Waiver may apply to the program, but can only be approved for the tuition waiver based on space availability. Please contact the Program Manager if you plan to use the waiver and for further details.

Application Checklist:

  • If a new student to Edmonds CC, admission into Edmonds Community College.
  • Prior to applying, complete an Associate in Applied Science - Transfer (AAS-T), or equivalent degree, in Early Childhood Education, Human Services, Addiction Studies, or Family Support Studies.
  • Minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA and minimum grade point of 2.0 or better in core courses applicable to the AAS-T degree in specified field.
  • $25.00 non-refundable application fee - paid through Cashier's Office.
  • Application Form.
  • Supplemental Form - Equivalency, if applicable.
  • Personal Statement (two to three pages) following the prompts provided in application form packet.
  • Current Resume showing relevant work experience and length of time.
  • Professional Recommendation Forms (two), separate link at the top of this page.
  • Unofficial transcript(s), including prior colleges for transferable credit.
