SERVICES FOR STUDENT SUCCESS
ADVISING CENTER ENROLLMENT SERVICES
Academic advisors and faculty advisors guide students through the course selection
process and provide them with detailed information about specific degree and
certificate requirements. Advising is designed to help students meet their educational
goals. Effective advising is a key component to any student’s success.
ADVISING RESOURCE CENTER
The Advising Resource Center houses various resources designed to assist you with the enrollment and transfer process. Computers are available for you to register for classes, complete your financial aid application, and access the Edmonds Community College online orientation. Stop by and pick up university applications, course equivalency guides, or browse through university catalogs. You may also look at the four-year visit schedule and make an appointment with a four-year representative.
BRIDGE COURSES DEVELOPMENTAL EDUCATION
Bridge courses are college preparatory classes that assist students with their
reading comprehension, vocabulary, spelling, and study skills. Courses include
reading improvement, speed-reading, essay writing/grammar review, study skills
for college, managing time and college exams, college note taking, etc. Refer

CAREER ACTION CENTER
(CAC)
Students looking for part-time or full-time employment may register for employment
search assistance anytime during their EdCC experience. The CAC coordinates
career resources, internships, and employment services on the campus as well
as assists with resumes, cover letters, and practice interviews. New students
are encouraged to visit the CAC soon after arriving at the college to explore
career and employment resources. Computers are also provided to type resumes
and to research employment information. Job boards and listings are available
for viewing without an appointment.
CAREER, COLLEGE & LIFE SUCCESS COURSES
These courses allow students to explore career opportunities, investigate market
trends, examine their personalities, interests, skills and values, etc. In addition
to morning and afternoon sections, some classes are available on the weekends.

COUNSELING
AND RESOURCE CENTER
The Counseling and Resource Center provides short-term counseling for career
planning and exploration, academic concerns, and personal issues and crisis
intervention. Sessions are free and confidential. The Counseling and Resource
Center also houses a wide variety of community resource information, including
referrals to mental health providers in the community if long-term counseling
is needed.
EQUITY AND DIVERSITY CENTER (EDC)
Assists both women and men in achieving individual, educational and career goals
through short-term counseling, career information and referral, access to scholarship
information, crisis intervention, and referrals to community resources. Special
programs, lectures and workshops about career planning, financial management,
and job search skills are scheduled throughout the year. The center’s
mission is to educate the college community in diversity awareness and gender
issues. It also provides students with one-on-one support and encouragement.
Limited scholarships and emergency funds are also available. (The EDC reflects
the merging of Multicultural Services and Women’s Programs).
JOB DEVELOPMENT SKILLS COURSES
These individualized classes allow students to design their own success plan
for their personal, academic, and career goals. Individual sessions with the
instructor assist students with the “follow-through” of their goals
by identifying the proper resources needed to accomplish their success plan.

LEARNING SUPPORT CENTER
(TUTORIAL/WRITING CENTER)
Drop-in tutoring is available in several subjects including accounting, sciences,
foreign languages, math, psychology, sociology and statistics. The Learning
Support Center provides free, one-on-one assistance. Students may bring in assignments
or papers from any class for positive feedback and discussion in a comfortable
atmosphere. The Center also offers math success workshops. You must be currently
enrolled to receive tutoring.
SERVICES FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES
(SSD)
SSD assists in obtaining reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities
to ensure academic success. Services include priority registration, alternative
testing, interpreters for the deaf, scribes, readers, taped books, note-takers,
and referrals to off-campus agencies. A computer lab with adaptive equipment
is also available.
WRITING SKILLS COURSES
Four Writing Skills classes have been developed to assist students with the
writing process. These courses help to improve the effectiveness and sophistication
of students’ writing, particularly with paragraph development and sentence
