SERVICES FOR STUDENT SUCCESS

ADVISING CENTER ENROLLMENT SERVICES
Academic advisors and faculty advisors guide students through the course selection process and provide them with detailed information about specific degree and certificate requirements. Advising is designed to help students meet their educational goals. Effective advising is a key component to any student’s success.

ADVISING RESOURCE CENTER
The Advising Resource Center houses various resources designed to assist you with the enrollment and transfer process. Computers are available for you to register for classes, complete your financial aid application, and access the Edmonds Community College online orientation. Stop by and pick up university applications, course equivalency guides, or browse through university catalogs. You may also look at the four-year visit schedule and make an appointment with a four-year representative.

BRIDGE COURSES DEVELOPMENTAL EDUCATION
Bridge courses are college preparatory classes that assist students with their reading comprehension, vocabulary, spelling, and study skills. Courses include reading improvement, speed-reading, essay writing/grammar review, study skills for college, managing time and college exams, college note taking, etc. Refer to the current class schedule for complete course descriptions and for the class times.

CAREER ACTION CENTER (CAC)
Students looking for part-time or full-time employment may register for employment search assistance anytime during their EdCC experience. The CAC coordinates career resources, internships, and employment services on the campus as well as assists with resumes, cover letters, and practice interviews. New students are encouraged to visit the CAC soon after arriving at the college to explore career and employment resources. Computers are also provided to type resumes and to research employment information. Job boards and listings are available for viewing without an appointment.

CAREER, COLLEGE & LIFE SUCCESS COURSES
These courses allow students to explore career opportunities, investigate market trends, examine their personalities, interests, skills and values, etc. In addition to morning and afternoon sections, some classes are available on the weekends. Refer to the current class schedule for complete course descriptions and for the class times.

COUNSELING AND RESOURCE CENTER
The Counseling and Resource Center provides short-term counseling for career planning and exploration, academic concerns, and personal issues and crisis intervention. EQUITY AND DIVERSITY CENTER (EDC)
Assists both women and men in achieving individual, educational and career goals through short-term counseling, career information and referral, access to scholarship information, crisis intervention, and referrals to community resources. Special programs, lectures and workshops about career planning, financial management, and job search skills are scheduled throughout the year. The center’s mission is to educate the college community in diversity awareness and gender issues. It also provides students with one-on-one support and encouragement. Limited scholarships and emergency funds are also available. (The EDC reflects the merging of Multicultural Services and Women’s Programs).
