Can you briefly tell us about yourself and types of Distance Learning courses you are familiar with?

I have taken online courses in the past which included Math and Management. My role is to direct the day-to-day operation of Edmonds Community College's Instructional Technology Services department. This includes the management of Instructional Technology staff and the administration of the program. Duties include, but are not limited to: overseeing the strategy, implementation, and policies related to distance learning, the Blackboard system including learning management, community (instructional) portal, and content systems, as well as all other related instructional technologies.

What are you most excited/impressed with when using the iPad and the Blackboard Mobile application?

I am most impressed with the way Blackboard has proactively created an application for the iPad that is well suited to meet the needs of students and faculty, as well as, the general user. It's exciting to work with a company and a product that continues to strive on excellence while always keeping the end user in mind.

What do you hope to get out of this pilot?

My hope for this pilot program is that students and faculty will see that learning can truly take place anywhere. One does not need to be confined to a room. By having an affordable mobile tool and application, end users will be more willing to explore the cutting edge of technology. I believe that this pilot will allow students and faculty to see that technology is nothing to be afraid of and that learning styles come in all forms.
