Can you briefly tell us about yourself and types of Distance Learning courses you are familiar with?

I am the campus Blackboard Administrator and also manage the install and updates for the Bb mobile application for iPad/iPhone. I also field questions regarding the mobile app for our campus and work with Blackboard on any issues related to it.

What are you most excited/impressed with when using the iPad and the Blackboard Mobile application?

I like the clean interface and easy accessibility. Most of the tools and functions can be used, there are some limits due to java support on the mobile devices. Having used an iPhone for a while, the interface and functionality is familiar and easy. It is a great device for quick checking of Blackboard activity, email, and more and the size/form factor is very convenient.

What do you hope to get out of this pilot?

As an administrator I hope to learn more about what students want from a mobile device and how they access campus resources with it. The Blackboard mobile app is just one method of providing them access to campus resources and as more applications are developed the campus will incorporate more online and social networking type applications to reach students. The iPad will continue to evolve and all users could have the ability to interact using audio and visual media such as books, periodicals, movies, music, and games, as well as web content.
