Programs of Study - Nurse Assistant

This course will provide training in all client care aspects that are necessary to obtain certification as a Washington State Nursing assistant (CNA). Clinical externships are provided at acute care and long-term care sites after completing on-campus lab sessions. The CNA works in hospitals, nursing homes with patients and provides assistance with daily living tasks such as dressing, bathing, feeding, toileting, vital signs, catheter care, bed making, etc.

Prerequisites
AHE 116 Explore Health Careers	4 Credits
AHE 110 The Human Body: Structure & Function	5 Credits
BSTEC 104 Medical Terminology	3 Credits
BSTEC 129 PC Basics	3 Credits
SHS 170 HIV/AIDS and AHE 115 CPR/First Aid	1 Credit each

Prerequisites are offered every quarter.

Note: Students with previous healthcare experience or education may be able to waive some or all of the prerequisites. Please consult with an adviser for more information.

1st Quarter
AHE 162 Basic Patient Care Skill	6 Credits
AHE 164 CNA-Clinical Externship	2 Credits

Nursing Assistant courses are generally offered in fall, winter and spring quarters.
