ArtsNow winter art exhibit, workshops and classes
Release Date: November 21st, 2006Choose from more than 50 creative classes in business skills for the artist, book arts, art collecting, drawing and painting, three-dimensional art, writing, theater/public speaking and music for children at Edmonds Community College’s ArtsNow.
Art exhibit:
The Art of Landscape Photography exhibit, through Dec. 29, vintage photos by noted Vashon photographer Norman Edson and inspired new works in a juried show ArtsNow Gallery, 201 Fourth Avenue North, Edmonds. Includes Vashon Views of Mount Rainier, more than 30 photographs taken throughout spring of 2006 by 18 photographers. Free.
Special workshop:
BizArt 2007-An Artist Led Business Conference for Written, Visual & Performing Artists, develop the business savvy to pursue your career dreams for musicians, dancers, designers, photographers, actors, sculptors, painters, crafters to professionals, Jan. 26-27, Everett Station, 3201 Smith Street, Everett. New classes beginning in January:
Sunshine Music Together, learn with your infant, toddler or preschooler by sharing songs, instrument play, rhythm chants, and movement in a relaxed and playful setting. Four 45-minute class times available beginning the second week of January through the third week in March (except Feb. 20-24): 10:30 a.m., Tuesdays; 10:05 or 11:05 a.m., Wednesdays; or 10:15 a.m. Saturdays at Kennelly Keys Music, 4918 196th St. SW, Lynnwood. Taught by Summer Rognlie a registered teacher of Sunshine Music Together and an award-winning theater artist. $175.
Create Glass Beads, learn to make and sell beautiful glass beads, 1-5 p.m., three Saturdays, Jan. 13-27, Mongrain Studio, 724 First Street, Suite 2000, Mukilteo. Beginners welcome. Materials included. Taught by internationally known glass artist Steve Goodridge. $325.
Business Basics for Craft Artists, learn retail, wholesale and Internet selling, the art and science of pricing and marketing, 6:30 to 9 p.m., two Thursdays, Jan. 25 and Feb. 1, Edmonds Community College, Mill Creek Hall 210, 20000 68th Ave. W., Lynnwood. Taught by Edmonds’ art gallery owner Manya Schilperoort. $95.
Altered Books and Art Journals, learn techniques to alter books or create art journals using fabrics, fibers, buttons, beads and stitching, 6-9 p.m., two Mondays, Jan. 22 and 29, Artworks, 201 2nd Avenue South, Edmonds. Screenwriting- Art, Craft and Business, examine the fundamentals of writing a good screenplay, write short scripts, critique work and learn marketing strategies, 7-9 p.m., Tuesdays, Jan.23-Feb. 27, Edmonds Community College, Mountlake Terrace Hall 105, 20000 68th Ave. W., Lynnwood. $125.
