College hires athletic directors
Release Date: September 19th, 2012Jorge de la Torre is the Athletic Director and Spencer Stark is the Assistant Athletic Director at Edmonds Community College.
De la Torre was previously Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations at Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU) in San Diego. He worked at PLNU for 12 years.
“He has tremendous skill and talent in mentoring coaches, budget management, and event and facilities management,” said Nicola Smith, dean of Student Life and Development at Edmonds Community College. “He’s a great fit for our college. His number one priority is student success.”
De la Torre earned his Master of Arts in Sport Management at the University of San Francisco and his Bachelor of Arts in History at San Diego State University.
Stark was previously Recreation Director and served as Assistant Baseball Coach at Olympic Community College. He is currently completing his Masters of Sports Administration and Leadership Degree at Seattle University and he earned his bachelor's in Business Management from York College in Nebraska.
“Spencer is well versed in the community college system and has great vision for athletes, coaches, intramurals, and the college,” said Smith.

Our college fields seven teams for the Northwest Athletics Association of Community Colleges — men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, and softball — as well as intramural sports. The college’s facilities include Triton Field, multiuse turf which opened in 2011, and Seaview Gym. Scholarships are available for student-athletes.
