Real CSI - Computer/Digital Forensics seminar March 14 and Safe Computing in the Digital Age March 28

Have you ever wondered what can be retrieved from your computer, even after your Internet history and cache have been deleted? If so, that might be one reason to attend a digital forensics seminar March 14 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., in Meadowdale Hall 124, Edmonds Community College, 20000 68th Ave. W, Lynnwood. Admission is free to the public; however, registration is required.

Edmonds CC is the only college in the state offering this seminar. Edmonds CC is also the only college in the state with several certified data recovery experts who teach this curriculum. Participants can learn about digital forensics and what working as a digital forensic examiner would entail.

Seminar topics will include:

  • data storage, hard drives and media,
  • sources of data and evidence,
  • forensics in a networked environment,
  • computer forensics procedures—methods to start an analysis and investigation,
  • locating and extracting evidence from the Windows registry and evidence related to Internet and email activity, and
  • employment outlook.

The college began offering its Information Security and Digital Forensics Associate of Technical Arts degree in 2005 to meet the growing demand nationwide for cyber security expertise. The college also offers a certificate in Digital Forensics.

Safe Computing in the Digital Age- March 28

Did you know there is an elite team of cyber security experts that guard the digital borders of our state? Would you like to meet the person leading the team and hear them speak? Want to hear how one piece of malware resulted in $500,000 loss to a company? Ever wondered what happens when you “delete” something from your smartphone? Would you like some tips on staying safe online and keeping out of the reach of hackers?

If so, come to the Safe Computing in the Digital Age event, where you can hear experts in their fields talk about cybersecurity, information security, high technology investigations, computer forensics and phone forensics.

The event will be held on March 28 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m., in Woodway Hall at Edmonds Community College, 20000 68th Ave. W, Lynnwood. Admission is free to the public; however, registration is required.
