Jazz Band
The Edmonds Community College Jazz Band is in it’s first year and is off to a great start.
Here are some highlights from Fall Quarter 2007:
- Backed up Detriot-based jazz singer Kathy Kosins
- Performed at Tula’s Nightclub in downtown Seattle
- Performed for Winterfest at the Seattle Center
- Performed for various activities on the Edmonds CC campus
Here’s what’s to come before the 2007-08 school year is finished:
- Two more Tula’s performances
- Compete at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival in Moscow, ID (Feb. 20-22)
- Host visiting groups and perform at the Annual Edmonds Community College Jazz Festival (Feb. 28-Mar. 1)
- Perform at the Edmonds Jazz Connection
Director John Sanders studied under legendary jazz educators Dave Barduhn and John Moawad. He works regularly as a jazz pianist in the Seattle area. As well as serving as music department chair, John also teaches the two year Music Theory sequence.
