Learn Global Business Skills

Business Management courses at Edmonds Community College offer students the opportunity to gain new professional skills and knowledge to be competitive in today's ever-changing business environment. A variety of one-year certificates and two-year degrees allow students to prepare for jobs in fields where employers are hiring. Flexible programming allows students to take courses during the day, evening or on-line.

Associate of Technical Arts Degrees (ATA) 90+ credits

Students entering an ATA program are required to meet with a department adviser to design an appropriate course plan. These degrees contain a number of course options that may transfer to business administration programs at 4-year colleges and universities. Students with a potential goal of transfer should work closely with an adviser to identify transferable courses.

Business Management-ATA Degree is an excellent, comprehensive degree to prepare students with work experience for careers in management. The degree requires core coursework in business management, business computing and general education. It also allows students to choose 30 - 40 credits from selected management courses, so each student can customize the degree to meet his or her career goals.

Business Management-E-Business ATA Degree is designed for business and management students who understand the need to integrate business and technology. The E-Business degree prepares managers to improve customer relations, use information and decision-making tools, manage the supply chain effectively, and maximize bottom-line performance through technology.

Certificates 35+ credits

Working with an adviser, a student will be able to apply the courses from these certificates to one of the Business Management Department's Associate of Technical Arts Degrees, listed above.

Supervision is designed for new and future supervisors who desire the latest skills to be an effective leader, supervisor or manager. Skills gained may be used to gain a competitive advantage in the workplace.

Marketing and Sales Certificate is designed for students who want to specialize in sales and marketing. Focusing on current marketing and sales trends will assist students in gaining valuable skills for the marketplace.

Project Management Certificate - project management skills are in high demand in todayís fast-moving business environment. Youíll learn the terminology and the tools to put your experience to work ó and get the skills you need to stay in the game.

Business Certificate (51 Credits) is designed for students with limited work experience who are interested in a career in business. It requires introductory level course work in the areas of communications, quantitative skills, human relations/group interaction and business. It provides an introductory knowledge of business concepts upon which students can add more specialized and advanced knowledge.

Fashion/Retail Certificate is designed for students interested in entering the fashion/retail fields. A core focus on fashion, retail and business management will help students prepare for this industry.

Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management Certificate will give students a strong foundation for creating a new business, or managing an existing small business. The certificate develops skills in management, accounting, marketing, technology and communication.
