  • National Federation of Paralegals Association provides information designed for paralegals or those interested in a paralegal career. Links include those for news, career information including resumes and job listings, professional development, paralegal ethics, legal resources, publications, networking and online discussion forums.

  • Washington State Bar Association Official web site of the Washington State Bar Association.

 

General Legal Resources

  • Legal Search Engine  This metasite is a useful starting-point for any search for online legal information, pulling together a wide array of international, federal, state, and organizational resources. Links are organized in numerous sections, including Case Law, specific Legal Topics, Cyberlaw, Intellectual Property, Family Law, etc.), Reference Aids,Trial Advocacy, and Federal Rules, among others. Legal Engine also features link collections aimed at professors, students, and lawyers, as well as numerous other related search and legal sites. Please note that most linked pages are displayed within a frame at the Legal Engine site.
  • FedLaw (General Services Administration-U.S. Government) provides extensive links to federal statutes and associated regulations and references, the Federal Judiciary, the U.S. Congress, state and territorial laws, arbitration and mediation information, general research and reference publications, professional associations and organizations, and how-to legal-related sites.

  • Findlaw Internet Legal Resources (Findlaw Company) is a general starting place to web sites dealing with all aspects of law, including federal and state court decisions and statutory law, government law resources, legal news, legal associations and organizations, professional development and career information, law reviews, a legal subject index, and more. Internet

  • Legal Resource Guide is a comprehensive resource of the information available on the Internet concerning law and the legal profession, with an emphasis on the United States of America.

  • Legal Resources (National Federation of Paralegals Association) provides access to federal and state codes, laws, and statutes; international law, state, federal and supreme courts; federal and state governmental agencies, legal organizations and associations; news, legal forums, etc.

Federal Law Generally

  • Federal Web Locator (Villanova University) gives access to many different federal and some state government information web sites. It is primarily arranged by federal legislative, judicial, and executive branches of government.

  • Legal Resources (National Federation of Paralegals Association) contains links to a variety of legal information sources, including federal and state codes, laws, and statutes; international law, state, federal and supreme courts; federal and state governmental agencies, legal organizations and associations; news, legal forums, etc.

  • Internet Law Library (LawGuru.com) The Internet Law Library (formerly the US House of Representatives Internet Law Library) was originally provided to the public courtesy of the Office of the Law Revision Counsel of the US House of Representatives, as part of the Counsel's mission to make the law (particularly the US Code) available to the public. The web site provides access to the basic documents of the law, including Federal, state, territorial and international laws.

Federal Judiciary (Courts)

  • Federal Judiciary (U. S. Government's Official Web Portal) provides access to general information and legal resources concerning the US Supreme Court, US Circuit Courts, US District Courts, and US Bankruptcy Courts.

  • Federal Court Locator (Villanova Univ.) offers access to information concerning the different federal courts, including the Supreme Court of the United States, the United States Courts of Appeals, and the Administrative Office of the US Courts. Also included are federal probation offices, and a link to the United States Sentencing Commission.

  • Decisions of the US Supreme Court (Cornell University) gives recent decisions and selected historic decisions of the US Supreme Court. Court decisions from 1937-75 are accessible. Also included is the Court’s calendar for the current year, information about the Court and the Justices, and noteworthy decisions from other courts.

  • Rules of the Supreme Court of the United States (Cornell Univ.) contains a hypertext listing of the US Supreme Court Rules effective October 2, 1995.

  • Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (1996) (Cornell Univ.) is a hypertext version of the federal rules of civil procedure.

  • Federal Rules of Evidence (1996) (Cornell Univ.) is a hypertext version of the federal rules of evidence.

Federal Administrative Law

  • Federal Agencies and Departments Sites (National Federation of Paralegals) provides links to the many federal agencies and departments that create and enforce the rules and regulations that make up federal administrative law. Included are links to such agencies and departments as the US Dept. of Commerce, the Department of the Treasury, US Dept. of Energy, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Federal Trade Commission, the Food and Drug Administration, and more.

  • Code of Federal Regulations (GPO Access) contains the text of public regulations issued by the agencies of the Federal government. Proposed regulations and regulations issued so recently that they are not yet in the Code of Federal Regulations database, may be found in the Federal Register.

  • Federal Register (GPO Access) The Federal Register is the official daily publication for Rules, Proposed Rules, and Notices of Federal agencies and organizations, as well as Executive Orders and other Presidential Documents of the Federal government.

Washington State Judiciary (Courts)

  • LegalWA.com provides free access to Washington Supreme Court and Appellate Court decisions. Per the web site, "pre-1994 opinions are from bound volumes. Opinions from 1994 to April 2001 are from advance sheets. The most recent information, from April 2001 forward, comes from slip opinions on the Washington courts web site." The site is a joint project of the Washington State Bar Association (WSBA), Municipal Research & Services Center (MRSC), and the Code Reviser. It also includes access to the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) and Washington State county and city municipal codes.
  • Washington State Courts (official) is the official web page for Washington State courts and provides information on all levels of Washington State Courts, including a directory of of courts and addresses, court news. Also included are published and unpublished Supreme Court and Court of Appeals opinions (maintained on-line for 90 days), court Forms and instructions, and information on domestic issues including domestic violence and domestic relations.

Washington State Administrative Law

  • Washington Administrative Code (Municipal Research & Services Center of Washington). This is a link to the Washington Administrative Code (WAC) provided by the MRSC, which is a nonprofit organization created to assist Washington local governments through consultation, research and information services.

  • Washington Administrative Law (Washington State Law Library) Provides links to the Washington Administrative Code and the Washington State Register as well as a brief explanation of both.

  • Administrative Law Research (University of Washington Law Library) Provides information and links for researching Washington State Administrative Law, including dictionaries and guides as well as resources for finding agency decisions and regulations and updating agency regulations.

  • US state and territorial laws (LawGuru.com) is an alphabetical listing of all states, territories, and Indian nations and tribes, with links to the laws for each.

Other States Statutory Law

  • State Laws, Codes, and Statutes (National Federation of Paralegal Associations) is a geographical state arrangement of the United States, with links to each state. The information available for each state's laws, codes, and statutes varies from state to state.

  • Municipal Codes Online (Seattle Public Library) provides links to the municipal codes of various cities in the United States. This list does not cover every city as some of them do not have their codes available online yet.

Indigenous, International and Foreign Law

  • Native American and Indigenous Law A comprehensive portal to indigenous, aboriginal and Native American legal resources, including laws, legislation, treaties, etc. In addition to bibliographies, primary source materials and links to tribal web sites, specific topics such as gaming and repatriation of cultural property receive in-depth treatment.
  • International Law and Miscellaneous Information (National Federation of Paralegal Associations) is an alphabetical listing of links to various countries' legal resources. Also included are links to a few international organizations, such as the World Health Organization.
  • Laws of other nations (LawGuru.com) is an extensive listings of the countries of the world, and includes for each country links to the legal information that has been made available online.

  • Findlaw Subject Indexes of Legal Resources (Findlaw Company) is a subject arrangement of areas of law listed alphabetically. Examples include administrative law, contract law, cyberspace law, family law, international law, intellectual property law, and more.

  • Legal Materials Organized by Topic (Legal Information Institute, Cornell University) LII topic summaries with links to key primary source material and offnet references can be accessed through a broad set of topic categories listed here.

 

Miscellaneous Legal Resources

  • Introduction to Basic Legal Citation (1995-96 ed.) (Cornell Univ.) by Peter W. Martin (Cornell Law School) is a hypertext legal citation primer is based on the Fifteenth Edition of the "Bluebook."
