
ABOUT THE LIBRARY
The
Library's Mission, Vision and Goals
Edmonds Community College Library staff and faculty are dedicated to
helping students achieve their educational goals and to furthering their intellectual,
social and cultural development through services and resources we provide. The
Library provides instructional services and resources to the Campus community
consistent with the College's mission, goals and objectives.
Services
Staff at the Circulation Desk process loans of books, magazines and reserve materials. Staff at the Reference desk assist students with using and locating print and electronic resources, both in the college library and elsewhere.
Resources
Materials in the library's collection are available in print and electronic format, including books, magazines, newspapers, videotapes, DVD's, audio tapes, CDs., sound recordings and maps. The library also maintains a significant collection of legal resources.
The library provides a computerized network which can be used to access local, regional, national and international electronic resources. The resources include the college Library catalog and three databases of full-text magazine and newspaper articles.
The library also contains well-lighted study tables, individual study carrels, group study rooms, and media carrels equipped with tape decks, CD, DVD and video cassette machines.

The Edmonds CC library website at http://www.edcc.edu/library provides access to many online resources and information about the library. An online library tour is also available at the library's website.
Policies
In an effort to provide an environment conducive to study and research the library has adopted the following policies for use of resources and services.

Internet Acceptable Use Policy:
Washington State law specifically, "...prohibits the transmission of any information that promotes, discrimination on the basis of age, sex, marital status, race, creed, color, national origin, sensory, mental or physical handicap, or sexual preference; sexual harassment; copyright infringement; personal beliefs or personal business interest; or any unlawful activity." (Executive Order 91-10) (Implemented in conjunction with RCW 40.14, RCW 42.17)
Internet use in the Edmonds Community College Library shall be solely for the purpose of facilitating the exchange of information in furtherance of education and research.
Internet users in the Edmonds Community College Library shall respect the rights and property of all others and shall NOT improperly access, misappropriate or misuse the information/files of other users.
The Edmonds Community College Library may withdraw privileges in using the Internet if there are violations of this policy
