Wayfinder WorldCat   (formerly FirstSearch)  
Wayfinder WorldCat is a catalog of books in libraries worldwide; citation, tables of contents, and location information of journal articles; as well as indexes of worldwide conference proceedings, ERIC articles and reports, and U.S. government publications; and access to Funk & Wagnalls New Encyclopedia and four almanacs.
Note: Wayfinder WorldCat does not contain full-text documents for any of it resources, including ERIC documents. However, you can use it to request that the library have a book or article sent to the library for you to pick-up. The ARTstor Digital Library Charter Collection is:

Contemporary Literary Criticism Select
Contains critical essays on contemporary authors, including biographical/critical introductions, listings of principal works and bibliographies.

Since its beginnings in 1974, the aim of CultureGrams has been to foster understanding and appreciation of the world's countries and peoples by creating and publishing excellent content.

Gale Virtual Reference Library Provides access 39 electronic reference titles - eBooks - in the areas including health, science, art, history, biography, social sciences and more.

Provides comprehensive business travel, telecommunications and business culture information.

History Resource Center: The Modern World
Provides extensive coverage of the Modern World with content from over 2,000 primary sources, 25 reference titles and 110 academic journals.

World Conflicts Today
Part of the CultureGram collection. This database includes references covering 10 conflicts throughout the world.

 

MAGAZINE, NEWSPAPER AND JOURNAL ARTICLE RESOURCES


Academic Search Premier (New) contains indexing and abstracts for over 8,450 journals, with full text for more than 4,650 of those titles. PDF backfiles to 1975 or further are available for well over one hundred journals, and searchable cited references are provided for more than 1,000 titles.  Academic Search Premier contains unmatched full text coverage in biology, chemistry, engineering, physics, psychology, religion & theology, etc.

The Chronicle of Higher Education Provides the "complete contents of the latest issue; daily news and advice columns; current job listings; articles published since September 1989" and more for college and university faculty members and administrators

eLibrary Comprehensive, general reference collection of full-text magazines, newspapers, reference books and TV, radio and government transcripts, maps and audio/video resources. Its collection covers reading levels through college and can be searched by keyword, topic, subject, publication or natural language question.

Health Reference Center - Academic Provides comprehensive collection of health-research related information from medical and professional journals, general health magazines and reference sources.

Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center Provides access to viewpoint articles, topic overviews, statistics, primary documents, links to websites, and full-text magazine and newspaper articles.

PubMed A service of the National Library of Medicine that includes over 15 million citations from MEDLINE and other life science journals for biomedical articles back to the 1950s. Includes links to full text articles and other related resources.

ProQuest Contains full-text of articles from over 1,600 magazines and journals and indexing for an additional 860 titles, including 16 Washington State newspapers, and the New York Times. ProQuest is provided jointly by the Washington State Library and the Edmonds CC Library, and is funded in part with LSTA funds.

Full text database of the newspapers, magazines and journals from alternative and independent presses.
Ethnic NewsWatch
Contains full-text articles from newspapers, magazines and journals from the US ethnic, minority and native press. Available in English or Spanish. (Ethnic NewsWatch is now part of the ProQuest collection of databases.)
ProQuest Reference
Search a full-text collection of reference books including The Ethnic Cultures of America, Occupational Outlook Handbook, and the World Factbook.
ProQuest Newspapers (Current)
Coverage of 5 major newspapers, including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times and the Christian Science Monitor.
New York Times Historical Newspaper
The New York Times (1851-2004) offers full page and article images with searchable full text back to the first issue. The collection includes digital reproductions providing access to every page from every available issue.
Washington State Newsstand
Provides full-text coverage of major Washington newspapers including the daily newspapers from Seattle, Tacoma, Spokane and Vancouver, plus selected coverage of other regional sources.

eRecruiting.com - The Career Action Center at Edmonds Community College has job listings for part time and full time jobs and internships.  Note: some positions are exclusively for Edmonds Community College students and graduates. 

Hoover's Online This commercial site provides access to the latest company, business and marketing information. Includes company profiles and financials as well as IPO, market and industry news.

Vocational Biographies Online Career biographies of up to 1001 real people, including work experience, education, training and success stories.

WOIS Provides Washington state labor market information. Includes career descriptions, program information and interest evaluations.

WorkforceExplorer (Washington's Interactive Labor Market Access, a free online database of current workforce and labor statistics for Washington state.) You can also plan your career with WorkforceExplorer's Career Center

Because we all have characteristics that make us unique (age, gender, ethnicity, education level, employment, etc.) finding scholarship opportunities that best meet each of our individual needs can be difficult.

Money, Cost and Budgeting: Resources for Living on Your Own This web page provides a list on local resources as well as budgeting and personal finance guides for living on your own.

LEGAL RESOURCES


Westlaw Campus Provides access to a broad array of legal resources including, decisions from all federal and state courts since 1789, all federal and state statutes, 41 state administrative codes, articles on court decisions and statutes from American Law Reports, over 600 law reviews and journals, and the American Jurisprudence legal encyclopedia.

Current Edmonds CC students, faculty and staff can access these databases from off-campus with proper identification.

1. Go to the Edmonds CC Library website
2. Click on the link for "Online Library Resources"
3. Click on the link for the database you wish to use (ProQuest, etc.)
4. A Dialog box will appear asking for your last and your student ID number. Fill these in as such:
