Here’s What a Program Could Look Like or Design Your Own
Customized Program for: English classes and American culture, 7 students, 15 days
Saturday-Sunday: Arrival and pickup at SeaTac Airport, free days with host family
Monday
- Orientation
- English lesson: asking directions
- Tour Edmonds and Lynnwood, visit quaint shops, views of the Puget Sound
- Class assignment: practice grammar
Tuesday
- English lesson: history of Edmonds and Lynnwood, discuss favorite things
- Conversation practice: card-making class
Wednesday
- English lesson: history of the Boeing Co. and basic airplane terms
- Tour downtown Seattle: Seattle Center, Space Needle and Westlake Center Mall
- Class assignment: take notes on history of Seattle, include descriptive adjective and focus on pronunciation
Thursday
- English lesson: history of Seattle, interview each other, report on tour information
- Conversation practice: bead making (key chain)
Friday
- English lesson: discuss history of Seattle, pioneer background and describe places
- Walking tour of Seattle waterfront with its distinct early century charm, souvenir shops and a variety of restaurants
Saturday-Sunday: Time with Host Family
Monday
- English lesson: shopping and the history of Washington State and Native Americans
- Visit the Burke Museum (Native American exhibit)
- Class assignment: practice grammar
Tuesday
- English lesson: likes and dislikes, hobbies and interests
- Conversation practice: crafting and community
Wednesday
- English lesson: history of Seattle and asking questions “How long?” “How much?”
- Tour the Boeing Plant in Everett, includes a video and view of planes under construction
- Class assignment: using passive voice, describing process
Thursday
- English lesson: giving instructions and introduction to American baseball
- Visit Safeco Field, home of the Seattle Mariners
Friday
- English lesson: review of course work
- Farewell ceremony with host families and teachers
Saturday: Depart, visit us again!
