Student Goes to Purdue University
Testimonial of Jessica Widjaja- Indonesia
“One day I’d like to build my own manufacturing plant to produce, distribute and package nutritious food.”

Jessica Widjaja, 18, came to Edmonds Community College from Indonesia in fall 2003 to study science. This winter she’ll join her older brother at Purdue University in Indiana. She plans to earn her bachelor of science in engineering at Purdue with a goal of becoming a food-processing engineer.
With that degree, she could work for Nestle, a company with food processing plants in both the United States and Indonesia. Widjaja chose Edmonds Community College because she wanted to study somewhere new, on her own and become more independent. At Edmonds, she was able to try new things and venture out on her own with the support of the college’s community. She participated in the college’s Indonesia club, Phi Theta Kappa honor society and, lived with an American family, in the Homestay program.
