Edmonds Student Succeeds with University StudiesSinisa Trajkovic - Split, Croatia
| Sinisa Trajkovic from Croatia never thought he would study for a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, but that’s exactly what he is doing at the University of Victoria, in British Columbia, Canada. Sinisa left Edmonds Community College in 2000 after obtaining an Associate of Arts and Sciences and an Associate of Technical Arts as Chemical Lab Technician. “Before coming to Edmonds I thought I would study medicine or pharmacy. In high school I hated chemistry. But at Edmonds the teachers presented it in an interesting and logical way…it’s not horrible-it actually applies to everything that you do.” Sinisa transferred to the University of Washington and then decided to attend the University of Victoria because of financial assistance there. He liked the small class size and the one-on-one student services available at Edmonds. “At Edmonds they spoil you-at a big university you have to go to many offices to get one thing done, but at Edmonds I could get assistance for most things by talking to my adviser. I’m glad I went to Edmonds because I could learn what was expected of me as a student; it’s good to start at a small school and then transfer to a larger one.” He was also able to work for a private company as a chemical lab analyst through practical training while at Edmonds. “I worked alongside other students from the University of Washington, and I knew more practical applications than many other students because of the Edmonds specialized lab technician program, so they called me “Dr. Sinisa!” he said with a smile. Edmonds students have a record of success in transferring and completing
their Bachelor’s degrees after a year or more of study. The following
