How did you hear about Edmonds Community College?
I heard about Edmonds from my study abroad agent in
Hong Kong. Actually I went to several agencies and they all recommended
EdCC.
How long did you study at EdCC? How did Edmonds CC help you in your
studies?
I studied here for 7 quarters, almost 2 years.
EdCC has a lot of good instructors. They are experienced,
kind and easy to access.
I always got helped when I needed it. Because of the small class size,
I was able to get
to know everybody in the class and study together. It really helped my
studies.
The Learning Support Center offers free tutoring. I brought my questions
there and
got answers back. I also brought my essays in to get some advice. This
improved my grade a lot. Also Edmonds CC chose a really good host family for
me. I didn’t have to get distracted by ordinary living hassles. I could
even practice my English with them.
Studying in Edmonds CC was a valuable experience. It helped me
to adapt to the new American culture. One thing that I learned is to take
initiative. You may get it if you ask for it, or you will never have a
chance. I think this helped me prepare for upcoming challenges, not only
in my further studies, but also in my career.
Would you have preferred to go to a four-year university for
your first two years of study?
I would definitely choose a two-year college for my
first two years of study. Once I thought that I would miss some good time
by not being a freshman in a four-year university. But I found that time
is still as good in a two-year college. Also I paid significantly less
tuition, had more attention from instructors, and got to know many people.
I really enjoyed my first two years of college life in EdCC.
Where are you transferring? What is your major?
I am going to transfer to the University of Washington
and major in electrical engineering. I am looking forward to it.
What are your future plans?
Getting a bachelor degree is the first thing in my
head. Then I want to stay in America to have some work experience and
earn my tuition for my master degree. Then...maybe get a high paying job
and get a wife, have some children... but it seems far away from now.
