In I-BEST (it stands for Integrated Basic Skills and Training), you can enroll in career-training classes while completing your high school diploma and/or GED, and we’ll help you get your questions answered and get money for college. It’s your future.
In as little as three months, you can earn a certificate of completion to get a jump-start on a new career in:
- Allied Health – take classes such as Introduction to Health Care,The Human Body, and CPR to prepare for skills training as a Phlebotomist, Pharmacy Assistant, EKG Technician or Nursing Assistant (typical wages $9.50-14/hour). Continue your studies to earn a certificate in Patient Care with wages typically beginning at $12/hour.
- Computers, Electronics and Networks – take classes such as Introduction to Electronics and Soldering and Cabling to gain skills for a job as an assembler (typical wages $10-12/hour) or solderer and braiser (typical wages $12-15/hour). Continue your studies for a degree or certificate in Robotics or Electronics (entry-level jobs using these skills may earn $15-30/hour).
- Construction Industry Training – take Core Construction Skills I & II, Flagging, CPR & First Aid to train for an entry-level job as a construction helper with median wages of $13.50/hour
- Medical Office Clerk – The Business Information Technology Department offers classes such as Medical Terminology and Introduction to Medical Records to prepare for work as a medical records assistant (typical wages $13-14/hour). Earn a certificate/degree in Medical Information Technology or Advanced Office (entry-level jobs using these skills may earn $15-18/hour).
