Running Start

What is Running Start?

Applications for new Running Start Students will be accepted until Sept. 16, 2016*

*It's best to complete the application process before June 24, 2016 for best class options.

The Running Start Program is an opportunity for eligible Washington State high school juniors and seniors to take college-level classes tuition-free.

  • Students earn dual credit — both high school and college credits which may be applied towards high school graduation and an associate’s degree, certificate, or transfer credit.

  • Running Start is available fall, winter, and spring quarters.

  • Students learn in a college setting and have hundreds of different classes to choose from — allowing flexibility in scheduling.

  • Running Start students can opt to take classes both at the high school and college (part-time Running Start), or solely take classes in the college (full-time Running Start).
