Grants, Research and Institutional Effectiveness
Grants
For many years, Edmonds Community College faculty and staff have been highly successful at generating public and private revenue to best serve our students and our community. Our grant-funded programs allow us to give our students the best possible opportunities for support, preparation for employment and transfer to 4-year institutions, and intellectual rigor.
It is particularly noteworthy that during a period rising tuition, Edmonds Community College has excelled in seeking and receiving funds for scholarships and assistance for low-income students, for increasing minority, immigrant and refugee students' access to the college, and for collaborating with local high schools. Title III Strengthening Institutions Grant
Drawing on findings of the self-study accreditation process and recommendations from the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) visit in 2008, members of the Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment of Teaching and Learning Advisory Committee developed a plan to improve systematic research, evaluation and planning processes.
This plan was used to develop and submit a Title III proposal to the US Department of Education) that resulted in a five-year, $1.92 million Strengthening Institutions grant awarded within months of the completed accreditation visit. The grant begins on October 1, 2008. For more information contact Beth Nichols.
Goals, Performance Indicators, and Measurable Targets
In 2005, President Oharah led a college-wide initiative to identify key measurements of performance success as related to institutional goals. Faculty and staff across all departments and divisions had opportunities for input into this process. See a summary of the measurable targets. For more information contact Eva Smith.
