Escape to Opportunity Island
On February 2, 2009, the Foundation kicks off the 2009 Campus Giving Campaign, Opportunity Island. This year, we’ll warm your spirits with a month-long escape to the tropics with lots of fun, games and prizes designed to help you take a break from the cold dreariness of this Washington winter. Most importantly, we hope to warm your heart with tales of the difference your past participation made in the lives of our campus family.
Your tremendous support last year helped the foundation award over $130,000 in scholarships to our most deserving students. We also gave $35,000 in grants for faculty and staff programs. Thank you for your generosity. We hope you can help us achieve greater success in 2009.
Our goals this year are to reach or exceed $25,000 and have at least 200 employees participate! We look forward to seeing you on campus and hope you enjoy all the fun we have planned for you.
How You Can Help
You can make your gift to the 2009 Campus Giving Campaign by completing our pledge form and sending it to the Foundation. You can make your donation through payroll deduction, by personal check or via our secure Web site. Every contribution, no matter what size, is important and supports our efforts to provide opportunities for every student at Edmonds Community College.
Bear Hugs
Bears are back and dressed for the occasion in hula skirts and leis. For a donation of $5.00, send a bear along with your personal note to make the day of a colleague. New this year: Delivered bears get new homes with your colleagues and don’t get retrieved by the foundation at the end of the day. To order a bear hug, complete the order form and return it with your payment to the foundation. Bear hugs are delivered each morning. Please give us at least 24 hours to process your request.
Contests and Games
This year, our three departments with the highest level of participation (percentage of employee participating) will be treated to a lavish coffee break during one of their staff meetings. Foundation staff will deliver muffins, fruit, coffee, tea and more – along with a little tropical fun. We’ll even dress for the occasion in our Hawaiian shirts and leis.
Every Wednesday, there will be a contest or game for you to play. Contest/game rules and prizes will be announced by campus email.
If you have questions, comments or would like to participate in the campaign in any way, please contact Lorrie Gomes. We hope you enjoy our escape to Opportunity Island.
