Barbara Patterson Exempt Employee Award

Barbara Patterson, now deceased, was a long-time and dedicated employee of Edmonds Community College. Many remember her as the effective, forceful and intelligent Vice President of Human Resources who was key in developing the employee training programs. Others might remember her as a talented teacher as a member of the Business Department Faculty.

Her legacy includes being the first president of the faculty union, AFT Local 4254, where her activism, success and standard of excellence are still used as a role model. She was an exemplary administrator and employee of Edmonds Community College who was admired by all. Barbara encouraged, challenged and cajoled her colleagues to do what they believed they couldn’t do; and then she was there for them to provide support and counsel. This type of dedication and commitment to Edmonds Community College is what the Barbara Patterson Exempt Employee Award was created to recognize and reward.

The 2009 Barbara Patterson Exempt Employee Award recipients will be announced to campus by June 15 and honored at an award ceremony in September 2009.
