Receiving Your Aid

Once your eligibility for aid has been determined, an award letter will be sent to you, which indicates by quarter, the financial aid program(s) and amount(s) you qualify for. Read the letter carefully, it will contain additional instructions. Your award letter assumes full-time enrollment of 12 or more credits, unless otherwise indicated. If you plan to attend school part-time you must fill out a CHANGE FORM and request that your grants be adjusted to part-time status. No adjustment to your award will be made after the 5th day of the quarter or after you pick up the remainder of your funds, whichever occurs first. You must fill out the Change Form each quarter after you register if you will be enrolled for less than 12 credits.

When will checks be disbursed?
Your tuition will be deducted automatically from your grants and loans if you are a full-time student, or once we have made any necessary adjustments to your award if you are a part-time student. Any remaining funds will be available to you in the form of a check. Financial aid checks are mailed to students just prior to the start of the quarter. Grant and loan checks are available only to registered students whose tuition has been paid and who have no outstanding debts to the college.

Summer Quarter Checks
Summer quarter generally starts prior to the end of June. By Federal and state regulation Financial Aid funds cannot be disbursed until after July 1st, which begins the new fiscal year. This usually means financial aid funds for books and supplies will not be available prior to July 6 or 7. You will need to plan on purchasing your own books and supplies until your funds become available. If you are unable to purchase your own books, talk to your instructor on the first day of class to see if an accommodation can be made. Delays of payment for tuition are given to all awarded financial aid students summer quarter.
