Faculty Development at Edmonds Community College

Teaching Squares:
available for online and on-ground courses!

Teaching Squares enrich teaching and build community through a structured, non-threatening process of classroom observation and shared reflection.

A square consists of three or four faculty members from different disciplines who, over the course of several weeks, spend a total of five hours:

  • engaging in reciprocal classroom visits;
  • sharing teaching materials;
  • reflecting on classroom observations; and
  • sharing reflections with colleagues at a lunch meeting.

A Teaching Square offers you the opportunity to enhance your own teaching by observing your colleagues in actual classroom situations. Participants are able to meet colleagues from across the campus:  Academic Support, Arts & Humanities, Business Technology, Language Arts, Social Sciences, Student Services, and Math & Science.
