FEDERAL GOVERNMENT

The Environmental Protection Agency

This site provides access to EPA's student employment and internship opportunities, and permanent federal job opportunities. Visitors to the website can search the U.S. Government's Office of Personnel Management (OPM) USAJOBS database at: http://www.usajobs.opm.gov. Students interested in a summer employment with the EPA can visit the Student

EPA Region 10 Career Opportunities

http://www.epa.gov/region10/ EPA's Region 10 covers Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, Washington and 269 Indian Tribes. The Career Opportunities website includes a Major Job Classifications section, and Environmental Career Resources Guide which includes fact sheets for students, and general applications procedures. There is also a link to a listing of other environmental careers sources and a list of EPA Human Resources Offices for those interested in student internship and other employment programs. Other EPA regions also have such information.

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)

http://www.noaa.gov/ NOAA is an organization of the Department of Commerce with the mission " to describe and predict changes in the Earth's environment, and conserve and wisely manage the Nation's coastal and marine resources." NOAA employment vacancies can be searched through the Office of Personnel Management database at http://www.usajobs.opm.gov/a9noaa.htm. This website provides general application information and interested parties can search job vacancies by geographic region and date posted.

INTERNATIONAL

United Nations Environment Program (UNEP)

http://www.unep.org/ The United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) mission is "To provide leadership and encourage partnerships in caring for the environment by inspiring, informing and enabling nations and people to improve their quality of life without compromising that of future generations." The UNEP site has various employment opportunities with their own websites. The Internship programs website at http://www.unep.org/unep/intrnfrm.htm includes program descriptions and application materials.

EDUCATIONAL

Mid-Atlantic Sea Grant Programs - Funding, Internships & Job Opportunities.

http://www.mid-atlantic.seagrant.org/Jobs/ Sea Grant is a partnership between the nation's universities and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in the Department of Commerce. The Mid-Atlantic region of the Sea Grant College Program includes 'coastal and near coastal waters' between North Carolina and New Jersey. The Funding, Internships & Job Opportunities page includes the following sections: Requests for Proposals, Fellowships and Internships, and Employment Opportunities. Each section lists a project/position name and brief description with a link to each website. There are Sea Grant opportunities in other locations also.

Environmental Careers Organization

http://www.eco.org The Environmental Careers Organization (ECO) is a national, non-profit, educational organization which has the mission of 'protecting and enhancing the environment through the development of professionals, the promotion of careers, and the inspiration of individual action.' The Employment listing, located under 'About ECO', includes a variety of positions ranging from full time employment, part time and contract to student internships and volunteer positions. ECO also offers national environmental career workshops and conferences and career development publications through its website.
