This certificate program requires the completion of the Energy Core certificate of completion followed by the Building Operations & Maintenance for Energy Efficiency specialty courses. Required classes are:


ENERGY CORE CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION (16 credits)

  • ENRGY 100 Introduction to Energy Management
  • ENRGY 102 Energy Basics
  • ENRGY 105 Introduction to Sustainability
  • ENRGY 120 Energy Efficiency: Design and Construction & Retrofit

BUILDING OPERATIONS & MAINTENANCE FOR ENERGY EFFICIENCY SPECIALTY COURSES (13 credits)

  • ENRGY 135 Energy Accounting
  • ENRGY 140 Commercial Lighting
  • ENRGY 145 Building Operations & Maintenance

A person with a Building Operations & Maintenance short certificate from Edmonds Commuinty College can earn the nationally recognized BOC, Building Operator's Certification, Level I, after also finishing one year of related work experience in the field of commercial building operation and maintenance.

BOC is a national workforce training and credential program offering job skills in energy efficient building operation and maintenance practices. Certification is competency-based and offered on two levels. Level I emphasizes energy-efficient building maintenance practices. Level II focuses on advanced equipment troubleshooting and maintenance. Other experience and education may be substituted as noted on the BOC web site. www.theBOC.info
