Edmonds Community College Opportunity Grant
An Opportunity Grant will pay your college tuition and fees and $1000 toward books and supplies. You may be eligible for this grant if you are a former or current GED, Adult Basic Education, English as a Second Language, or Adult High School student.
Foundation Scholarship Information
Last year the Foundation provided over
$200,000 in scholarships to students. In
addition to general scholarships, the Foundation has specific and endowed
scholarships that are described on link “Available Scholarships” that is on
this information page. The 2003-2004 Foundation scholarship application is now
available.
Financial Aid Department

Provides tuition assistance and short-term vocational training to income-eligible parents.

Washington Scholarships for Child Care Professionals
A program that helps professionals pay for a college education through community and technical colleges in early childhood education. Washington State STARS Scholarships
Individuals who are required to participate in the STARS requirements and who need financial assistance are eligible to scholarships. Funding is available for both the 20-hour training and 10 –hour continuing education. Participants can receive up to two awards each year. Betty Henderson Scholarship
Betty Henderson retired from Edmonds Community College after spending 40 years teaching and training those interested in Early Childhood Education. Her love for teaching and learning continues in her name through the Betty Henderson Scholarship. Students must be working toward an Early Childhood Education certificate.

Helen May Ross Endowed Scholarship
Helen M. Jones Ross lived a life dedicated to education. A graduate of Bellingham Normal Teacher's College, Helen taught at a Haida Indian Village in the Queen Charlotte Islands of British Columbia and founded the first nursery school in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Students of natural history and nature, Helen and her husband, Harry, restored the 1,800 acre Ross Forest Preserve, which is today a part of the Michigan Nature Conservancy. As a lasting legacy to Helen's lifelong dedication to teaching and conservation, her son and daughter-in-law, H. Stewart and Jean Stewart Ross, created this scholarship. Students of Native American descent are encouraged to apply. Criteria include interest in pursuing early childhood education, teaching Native Americans and/or ecology or natural sciences as a course of study.

Frank And Irene Anderson Endowed Women's Student Scholarship
Frank and Irene Anderson listened and were moved by the very real stories of women who have changed their lives by attending college. They established this scholarship to help women achieve their goals. Special consideration will be given to women who are single parents and meet all other general requirements.
Specific Criteria: female; single parents are given preference

Ferrill Family Endowed Scholarship
The Ferrill Family has been involved in business in the community for more than 50 years and believes strongly in education – which is the one thing that cannot be taken away from a person. This scholarship was established to assist students in their journey to become self-sufficient.
Specific Criteria: Applicants may be full or part-time students and citizens of the state of Washington who are pursuing a program of study that will help them become self-sufficient.

McCollum Family Endowed Scholarship
J. Edgar "Ed" and Dorothy McCollum came to South Snohomish County in 1940 to begin 50 years of community service and dedication. From the days of operating "Ed's Market" on the corner of 196th and Highway 99, Ed's reputation for hard work led him to three terms as county commissioner. During those 11 years, he paved roads, established a county planning commission, completed comprehensive plans for the county's growth and built a new county courthouse. Though Ed passed away in 1978 and Dorothy in 1998, their endowed scholarship continues to support students. Preference is given to an adult student who is returning to college and is a South Snohomish County resident.

Wood Family Endowed Women's Scholarship
The Wood family has a strong commitment to the community as evidenced by their public service; Jeannette Wood has served as State Senator and Ross Wood has served as Mayor of Woodway. Through their generosity, women who are single parents have the opportunity for assistance, as well as guidance and support. Special consideration will be given to a woman who is a single parent and meets all other general requirements.
