Commencement

Edmonds Community College celebrates the achievements of its class of 2002

Seattle Times columnist Jerry Large spoke at the graduation ceremony, and devoted his Sunday column "Students work toward their American dreams" to his impressions. "The rest of us may not pay much attention, but there's an institution out there that's changing lives for the better. " Jerry's commencement speech is also available online.

Student speakers Arben Kocaj, 25, and Rachael Mann, 19, spoke of how Edmonds Community College has changed their lives, Rachael as a Running Start student, and Arben as a student far from his home in Albania.

The ceremony at Seaview wasn't the only graduation celebration for Edmonds CC students. Sixty-four inmates at the Monroe Correctional Complex also celebrated a class of their own, having learned their lessons (Seattle PI).
