Between the Lines
Literary and Arts Journal
Edmonds Community College's literary and arts journal, Between the Lines, publishes quality short fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction, and visual artwork from writers and artists at the college and in the local community.
Between the Lines is funded by the Associated Students of Edmonds CC through the Services and Activities fee collected from quarterly tuition, giving students the opportunity to share their work within a larger community of writers and artists while also offering community members a chance to engage with our arts and cultural initiative at the college.

More than 50 writers and artists are featured in the journal. Edmonds Community College students can also get a free copy of the journal by visiting the Center for Student Engagement and Leadership in the Triton Student Center.
Between the Lines 2012 was created by students enrolled in the college's Publications class including:
Ariel Alfaro, design editor;Jordan Haarberg, design editor;
Chris Moses, literary editor; and
Juan Valdez, art editor.
Join Our Editorial Staff in 2013: Take Publications, Humanities 235
Join the editorial staff of Between the Lines by enrolling the college’s Publications class, Humanities 235. The class meets 9:30-11:20 a.m., Monday and Wednesday this winter as well as online (it’s a hybrid class).
Credits earned may count toward a two-year transfer degree at the college or the class may be taken as an elective.
Students form the editorial staff of the literary magazine and learn how to critique literary and visual arts. The class includes an overview of editing, design, printing, and marketing.
Instructor Amanda Laughtland is a published poet with experience in editing and publishing small press books and magazines.

Participate in Our Supportive Writing Community!
At Edmonds Community College, emerging writers enjoy opportunities each quarter to interact with published authors and to polish and share their own poetry, fiction, and nonfiction.
In addition to the literary journal and regularly offered English classes in creative writing and literature, the college provides a number of free short writing workshops and author events open to the community.
Since 2002, the college’s Convergence Writers Series has hosted more than 30 free literary readings.
Edmonds Community College is a partner in the EPIC Literary Series with Edmonds Arts Commission, Edmonds Library, Friends of Edmonds Library, and Swedish Hospital Art Committee.
EPIC writing group meets 10 a.m., Mondays at Edmonds Library.
Edmonds Literary Series events are 6:30-8 p.m., the second Thursday of each month at Edmonds Library.
