Head Softball Coach: Linsi Moy

Linsi Moy enters her second year as softball head coach at Edmonds Community College. Moy is an Edmonds CC alumna and former student-athlete for the Lady Tritons. She graduated with an Associates of Arts degree in 2000 after a successful athletic campaign. While at Edmonds, Moy was named Northern Region Most Valuable Pitcher as a freshman and earned Northeast Division 2nd Team as a sophomore.

Coach Moy thentransferred to the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Psychology in 2002. Moy was a member of the pitching staff where she played a key role in UMBC’s  appearance at the NCAA Division I National Championship Regional Tournament in 2002. As a Retriever, Moy was a two-time Northeast Conference All-Conference Pitcher and went undefeated in conference play for her two seasons in the circle. Moy established single season marks and still ranks among the program’s all-time leaders in nearly every major category.

Following Coach Moy’s student-athlete career, she went on to earn a Master’s of Arts Degree in Counseling from Lewis & Clark College (Portland, OR). She was also a member of the Pioneer coaching staff from 2003-2006, primarily working with pitchers and catchers.

Coach Moy returned to the Northwest in 2006 and entered the role of head softball coach at Archbishop Thomas Murphy High School (Everett, WA) for the 2007 and 2008 seasons. During her two seasons at the helm for the Wildcats she led the team to an overall record of 35-7 with two post season appearances.

Moy made another cross country move to the Division I level as the Assistant Coach during the 2009 and 2010 seasons at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington.  Coach Moy’s duties included working with pitchers, catchers, outfield and recruiting and camp coordinator for the Seahawks. She was also responsible for community outreach and overseeing the team’s academics.

As a Washington State native, Moy graduated from Inglemoor High School in 1998. The Viking softball team was crowned Kingco 3A/4A Champions (‘96, ‘97, ‘98); District Champions (‘96 and ‘97) and two appearances at the State Tournament in 1996 (3rd place finish) and 1997 (5th place finish).  As the team’s only pitcher her senior year, she played a key role in leading the team to the District Tournament where they completed a successful season record of 18-3.

For Coach Moy the most rewarding part of working with student-athletes is establishing relationships with the players and celebrating successes on and off the field. She believes that finding the balance as a student and an athlete is more than learning how to play the game. It’s about discovering your own capabilities and realizing what you can do.
