Tarrance Tucker Steps Down as Women’s Basketball Coach
March 6 -- Edmonds Community College athletic director Jorge de la Torre announced on Wednesday that Tarrance Tucker resigned his position as women’s basketball head coach. Tucker stated that he needed to spend more time with his growing family.
“I would like to thank the Edmonds Community & the Triton fans for welcoming me when I took this position. I would also like to thank Athletic Women’s Commissioner Nicola Smith, Vice President George Smith and President Jean Hernandez for their ongoing support for me and the program. To my players who waked hard and kept fighting to earn respect in the North League, I think you for your commitment. I would also like to thank former Interim Athletic Director Clay Blackwood for giving me this opportunity to lead the program.”
Coach Tucker inherited a depleted program that did not win a game in 2011-12. The Tritons showed marked improvement in 2012-13; however, winning seven games and posting a 3-11 record in the North.
“I am grateful for all that Coach Tucker did for the women’s basketball team and wish him the best,” said de la Torre. “He brought in a great group of freshmen players this season and we are getting positive results. There are good things ahead for EdCC women’s basketball.”
Edmonds will conduct a search for a new women’s basketball head coach, starting immediately. If interested, please contact jorge.delatorre@email.edcc.edu.
