Edmonds Upsets Pierce Wednesday

Edmonds Community College upended previously unbeaten Pierce College 83-75 Wednesday night in Tacoma. The Tritons improved to 2-0 for the year, the first campaign for Coach Kyle Gray.

Shaq McKissic led the way for EdCC with 35 points and 11 rebounds. The 6-5 sophomore forward was 12-21 from the field and a solid 10-14 from the stripe Wednesday.  

Three other Tritons: Tony Montano, Ricardo Maxwell and Joey Reavely, added 11 points apiece. Maxwell led the Blue and Green with six assists, while Thomas Pierson and Destin Kawaka each pulled down five rebounds.

The Raiders (3-1) entered the game with a 3-0 record. All of Pierce’s triumphs were by at least 20 points. Gary Jacobs and Derek Porter paced PC with 16 points apiece.

Edmonds was outshot by Pierce 49-46 percent but the Tritons had 31-23 rebound advantage and forced 24 turnovers which led to 11 more shot attempts.

The Tritons travel to Idaho on Thursday as they will participate in the Spokane Tournament over the weekend.
