EdCC Meets Bellevue for North Tournament Title
EVERETT, Wash -- Your baseball team is playing for the NWAACC North Tournament Championship on Sunday, May 19! The Tritons are unbeaten in the playoffs, defeating Bellevue and Skagit Valley. EdCC will now go up against the Bellevue Bulldogs in the title game, first pitch slated for noon at Everett Memorial Stadium.
Since the Tritons are unbeaten, Bellevue will have to beat EdCC twice on Sunday while we only need one win to claim the North Title. If Edmonds prevails, they qualify for the 8-team NWAACC Championships that start next week in Longview!
So, to make this simple: EdCC vs Bellevue for the North Title, Noon, at Everett Memorial Stadium. Admission is $5. Come out and support the Tritons! We need more fans there than Bellevue!
Tritons open NWAACC North Tournament with a win
EVERETT, Wash (5/16) – Kevin Sheets went the distance while Ryan Budnick and Carl Svanevik each drove in two runs to lead 2-seed Edmonds CC to a 6-2 triumph over 3- seed Bellevue College in the opening game of the NWAACC North Tournament at Everett Memorial Stadium on Thursday. Full Story>>
Baseball Heads into NWAACC North Tourney as 2-Seed
Edmonds, Wash. (May 12) – A walk-off, RBI double from sophomore Carl Svanevik on Sunday gave Edmonds CC baseball a 4-3 game one win against Douglas College and clinched second place for the Tritons in the NWAACC North standings. The Tritons went on to beat the Royals 7-4 in the nightcap.
EdCC will be the 2-seed in the double-elimination NWAACC North Baseball Tournament which starts on Thursday, May 16, at Everett Stadium. The Tritons will host 3-seed Bellevue College at 4:00 pm. Top-seed Everett CC takes on 4-seed Skagit Valley College at 7:00 pm. The winner of those contests play at 4 pm on Friday while the losers square off in Friday’s 1:00 pm loser-out game. Saturday is a day off, with the North championship game slated for Sunday.
Edmonds finished the regular season with a 25-17 overall mark, 15-9 in NWAACC play. The Tritons were 3-1 against Bellevue (26-17, 13-11 League), topping the Bulldogs 4-3, 8-7 and 8-5 while losing 2-1. All close games. Everett (34-7, 21-3) claimed three wins against Edmonds; Skagit Valley (21-18, 12-12) and EdCC split their four-game series.
Everett, as North champs, is already guaranteed a spot in the eight-team NWAACC Championships played Thursday-Monday, May 23-27, in Longview. One other North squad will also make the trip to Longview by either winning the North Tournament or finishing second to Everett.
NWAACC North Tournament Bracket and Times
The NWAACC North Baseball Tournament will take place at Everett's Memorial Stadium. Due to not having access to the field on Saturday, there are day and time changes. The tournament is now Thursday-Friday, and Sunday, May 16-17 & 19. The Tritons will either be the second or third seed. Final Regular Season Home Games on Sunday
The Edmonds CC baseball team hosts Douglas College on Sunday, May 12, for a NWAACC doubleheader that starts at 1 pm. Those two tilts mark the end of the 2013 regular season campaign.
Five Baseball Players Earn All Academic Honors
Congratulations to EdCC baseball sophomores Brendon Foor, Josh Evans, Ryland Longoni, Kevin Sheets and Carl Svanevik for earning a spot on the NWAACC All Academic Sports Team! Each has at least a 3.25 GPA; Great job!
Tritons and Dolphins Split Series
Lynnwood, Wash. (4/29) -- Edmonds CC and neighbors Shoreline CC played four games this past weekend with each squad claiming two wins. The Tritons, second in the NWAACC North, are now 22-14 overall, 13-7 NWAACC. Full Story>>
Edmonds Takes 3-of-4 From Skagit Valley
The EdCC baseball team topped Skagit Valley three times out of four times this past weekend. The Tritons improved to 20-12 overall, 11-5 in North League play. That puts Edmonds solidly in second place behind only Everett (13-2). The Tritons dropped Sunday's opener at home 3-1, before winning the nightcap 8-0. On Monday, EdCC swept the Cardinals 3-1 and 5-3.
Baseball Takes 3 From Bellevue to Kick Off League
Lynnwood, Wash. -- The Tritons benefited from four outstanding pitching performances from four starters en route to winning three out of four games against Bellevue College last Friday and Saturday. EdCC won the opener 4-3, lost game two 2-1 (10) and then swept the Bulldogs on Saturday 7-0 and 13-2. The four-game series marked the NWAACC opener for both squads. Full Story>>
Tritons Take 3-of-4 to Open Home Play
Lynnwood, Wash -- The Edmonds CC Tritons evened their overall record to 6-6 after taking 3-of-4 games at Triton Field this past weekend. Edmonds swept Big Bend 9-4 and 11-0 on Saturday. On Sunday the Tritons lost to Big Bend 8-5 before downing Pierce 4-2. Full Story>>
Baseball Splits Four Games Over the Weekend
Longview, Wash. – Edmonds CC split its four games over the weekend and now have a record of 3-5. On Saturday the Tritons lost to Lower Columbia 8-3, before topping Lane 8-7. On Sunday EdCC topped Lane 3-0, and then lost to Lower Columbia 6-4. Full Story>>
Tritons Open Year at Mt. Hood
Edmonds opened up the 2013 season under first-year head coach Scott Kelly at Mt. Hood this past weekend. The Tritons played four hard-fought games, taking the opener 7-5 in 12 innings, but dropping the next three by scores of 6-4, 10-7 and 1-0. Overall it was an encouraging weekend for EdCC which competed well against a team that was in the NWAACC finals last year.

EdCC Releases 2013 Baseball Schedule
Edmonds CC released its 2013 baseball schedule on Monday. EdCC, under first year coach Scott Kelly, hosts nine teams at Triton Field, starting with a twinbill against Big Bend CC on Saturday, March 16. The season kicks off two weeks earlier with a doubleheader on March 2, at Mt. Hood. Full Schedule>>
Scott Kelly Hired as Head Coach
December 4 – Edmonds Community College announced the hiring of Scott Kelly as baseball head coach on Tuesday. Kelly, a former NWAACC player, has a decade of coaching experience, including four years as the head coach at Missouri Valley College. He takes over a Triton program that has won seven NWAACC Championships and 19 North Region titles. Full Story>>
Baseball Coach Brad Ditter Leaves For Washington
September 1 -- Baseball Head Coach Brad Ditter has taken a job at the University of Washington. We wish him well! EdCC will hire an outstanding coach to take over the baseball program.
Four Tritons Taken in 2011
MLB Baseball Draft
Three current and one former Triton baseball players were selected in the 2011 Major League Baseball draft.
- Second baseman Taylor Brennan (.370 4 HR) was selected in the 32nd round by the Seattle Mariners. Brennan was selected to the NWAACC’s 2nd Team All Northern Division this year.
- Right handed pitcher David Reynolds was selected in the 42nd round by the Baltimore Orioles. Reynolds has a fastball that reaches 93 mph and a slider that projects to be an above average big league pitch.
- Third baseman Bobby LeCount (.330 5 HR) was selected in the 44th round by the Pittsburg Pirates. LeCount was named the NWAACC 2010 Northern Region Player of the Year as a freshman and then voted All Northern Region as a sophomore. “What great honors these three individuals earned with their time at Edmonds. They all have huge decisions to make on what is best for their careers at this point,” Coach Ditter responded.
- Former Triton right-handed starter and Pre-season All American Chris Dennis was also selected in the 2011 draft. Dennis set the single season and career saves record at the University of Portland. He was selected in the 32nd round by the Colorado Rockies. “Chris is a special player who has done nothing but win since he started playing the game of baseball, and everybody always said he wasn’t good enough, but did nothing but succeed at every step in his career. I see Chris having a long career in professional baseball,” Coach Ditter said.
- Former Triton left-handed pitcher Paris Shewey signed a free agent deal with the Houston Astros. Shewey lead the Cougars in Appearances in 2010, and was the Cougar closer this past year. He pitched for the Tritons in 2008, helping them win an NWAACC championship. Shewey will finish his bachelor’s degree next fall at WSU in Business Administration. “What a great accomplishment for all these guys, it’s a great feeling when guys go through our program, earn degrees and play professional baseball. Everybody has a dream to play in the big leagues but so few get to. That degree is earned and allows our former player to be successful after baseball is over," Ditter said.
- Former Triton shortstop Kirby Young signed a free agent deal with the Anaheim Angles. Kirby played two years with the Tritons before transferring to Sacramento State University.
In addition to those drafted, other Tritons are moving onto four year schools from the 2011 baseball team.

Eligibility Rules and Requirements
- Athletes must be registered in a minimum of 12 credit hours.
- Athletes must have passed a minimum of 12 credit hours the last quarter you were enrolled in college.
- Athletes may not participate in one sport more than two seasons.
- Athletes must be registered within 20 days from the beginning of the quarter.
- To qualify for eligibility to participate in a second (2nd) season of any sport, you must have earned a minimum of 36 credit hours and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.00 during any quarter of participation.
- Athletes must be a high school graduate or the class of which you were a member has graduated.
- Any time you participate in a regularly scheduled game, match or contest, you will be charged with one year of eligibility in that sport.
- Athletes may be declared ineligible if during the sport season you represent any club, organization or team other than your college team.
- If you are a transfer from another community college that is a member of the NWAACC, you become eligible for athletic competition after a time lapse of three quarters, exclusive of summer school, after separation from the former college.
- If convicted for the use or sale of legend drugs, including anabolic steroids, you will be disqualified from participation in a NWAACC sponsored athletic event or activity for a period of one year.
